A Fresh Start with a Vision – Checkpoint MVZ Konstanz

After years of collaboration with the Public Health Office (Gesundheitsamt) of the Konstanz District, this partnership within the framework of Checkpoint MVZ Konstanz ended on 31 March 2026. The reason for this change is the state-wide transition of public health offices to the new specialist software system ÖGDigital. According to the Konstanz District Office (Landratsamt), this system does not allow for data-protection-compliant integration of external partner organisations such as Aids-Hilfe Konstanz.

For many people, the Checkpoint is an important point of contact for information, counselling, and medical preventive care. That makes the following good news all the more significant: From July 2026, Aids-Hilfe Konstanz will once again be available to you at Checkpoint MVZ Konstanz. Services will be provided without the involvement of the Konstanz District Public Health Office. In cooperation with the HIV specialist practice at the Medical Specialist Centre at Konstanz Hospital (Facharztzentrum am Klinikum Konstanz), we are continuing to offer free and anonymous counselling as well as laboratory tests for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) - reliable, discreet, and with the same commitment as before.

We are very pleased to be able to continue this vital prevention service and to remain by your side in the future.

Note Regarding Acute Symptoms

If you are experiencing acute symptoms that may indicate a sexually transmitted infection (STI) we recommend arranging an appointment with a medical practice, promptly.

Appointments & Scheduling

HIV/STI tests are available only by scheduling an appointment via phone: Tel. 07531 / 21113

Upcoming Appointments

  • 13 July 2026, 4:00 - 5:30 pm, Appointments available
  • 27 July 2026, 4:00 - 5:30 pm, Appointments available

Appointments are preferentially offered to individuals who, based on their personal risk profile and epidemiological data, have an elevated probability of HIV or STI transmission. Due to high demand, some slots may already be fully booked. Any short-notice changes will be announced promptly on this website.

Important Information for Your Visit

To ensure that your appointment runs safely and smoothly for you and all others present, please observe the following:

  • Please arrive punctually for your appointment - neither significantly early nor late.
  • Please come alone, unless your accompanying person also has their own appointment.
  • Please disinfect your hands upon entering the practice and observe all applicable hygiene rules.

Please do not come to the Checkpoint if any of the following apply to you:

  • You are currently experiencing symptoms that may indicate COVID-19, such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath.
  • You have had close contact with a person diagnosed with COVID-19.
  • You have symptoms that may indicate Mpox, or have had close contact with a person diagnosed with Mpox. These include, in particular, skin changes that may be partly painful, such as rash, spots, nodules, blisters, pustules, wounds, or scabs. Associated symptoms such as fever, headaches, muscle or back pain, and swollen lymph nodes may also occur.

Thank you for your understanding. Your cooperation helps to make the visit as safe as possible for everyone involved.

How Your Appointment Works

During a confidential counselling session, we will inform you about possible routes of transmission, answer your questions, and carry out an individual risk assessment together with you. If you have a vaccination record, please check before your appointment whether you have been vaccinated against Hepatitis A and B.

All staff members are, of course, bound by professional confidentiality.

Laboratory Tests Offered

Following the counselling session, we will offer the following tests where there is a relevant probability of transmission:

HIV

  • Antibody/p24 antigen combination test / HIV antibody test (4th generation)
  • A reliable exclusion of HIV infection is possible no earlier than 6 weeks after a potential transmission event.

Other Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)

  • Syphilis (Treponema pallidum)
  • Chlamydia (Chlamydia trachomatis)
  • Gonorrhoea (Neisseria gonorrhoeae)
  • Hepatitis B
  • Hepatitis C

Important note for individuals with a penis (e.g. men, trans women, non-binary people): Testing for chlamydia and gonorrhoea requires a urine sample. Please do not urinate for at least 90 minutes before your appointment.
